The story behind Sheep Showdown
What started out as a hobby quickly got out of hand...

Two friends on a woolly mission
Growly Games was founded in 2021, right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. It all started with a simple game that we, Jesse (left) and Vincent (right), were playing. But honestly? The rules were unclear, and the game felt boring. So, we decided to spice it up a little. With just a few small tweaks, it suddenly became a lot more fun! That got us thinking: what if we didn’t just tweak a game, but created an entirely new one ourselves?

Sheep? Sheep!
And that’s how our adventure began. Idea after idea came and went. We experimented with different game concepts, from collecting objects to scoring points. We liked the idea of collecting, but what would be really fun to collect? Shells, flowers, bananas… we considered them all. Until the moment everything fell into place: sheep!
Sheep are cute, a little silly, and come in all shapes and sizes. We had found our theme!

Andy Jewett
A game isn’t complete without amazing artwork. But who could bring our sheep to life? We got in touch with Andy via Instagram and were thrilled when he responded to our request. His experience at, among others, Nickelodeon more than convinced us to make use of his skills.
He truly fulfilled our woolly mission of creating funny, quirky, and delightfully silly sheep. The amount of positive feedback we’ve received about the artwork confirms it! You can find more of Andy’s work here: Andy's portfolio

Sheep Showdown!
The creation of our very first game, Sheep Showdown, was a fact! After years of development and testing, we were pretty proud of the end result: a compact, eye-catching, and eco-friendly box guaranteed to deliver hours of fun.
